Former Google co-founder Sergey Brin has taken a more active role in the company’s AI initiatives than he did in the past.

Brin has been concentrating especially on the creation of Gemini, Google’s next-generation artificial intelligence model. Wall Street Journal stories state that since ChatGPT’s popularity became widely known late last year, Brin has been spotted at Google offices three or four days a week.

After the passing of numerous significant researchers in the field, Brin’s engagement has mostly been limited to helping with the hiring process and carefully choosing critical members of the AI team.

Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet and Google, has welcomed and supported Brin’s increased involvement with the business.

The co-founder’s prior disinterest in artificial intelligence has been extensively reported; some staff members have disclosed that he disregarded the early work of Google’s Brain division, which was essential in establishing the current state of AI.

Due to ChatGPT’s success, Brin seems to have become aware of the significance of AI and kept up with its latest developments.

Google raised red flags when they learned that Microsoft intended to include a new ChatGPT version into its Bing search engine. In response, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the company’s founders, were asked to return for a series of meetings to discuss Google’s AI strategy, as announced by CEO Sundar Pichai.

In an effort to rival OpenAI’s offering, Google introduced Google Bard, its own AI language model.

Many Google employees felt that Bard’s launch was “botched,” and the chatbot was seen by the public as less intelligent and more prone to mistakes than ChatGPT. Bard’s performance has significantly improved since then.

The integration of Google Lens, which makes use of Google’s extensive portfolio of products and technologies, is one of the most recent enhancements to Bard’s capabilities. Bard may now accomplish a variety of functions, such as visual recognition and understanding, thanks to this connection, giving users a more thorough and engaging experience.

Google’s dedication to remaining at the forefront of AI research and innovation is demonstrated by Brin’s active participation in the development of Gemini. The company understands that in order to be competitive in the AI market, it must build a strong workforce and create cutting-edge models as AI technologies continue to advance.

Industry insiders and observers have applauded Google for recognizing and leveraging Brin’s domain expertise, predicting substantial progress for the company as a result of his hands-on approach.

With Brin at the helm and the committed work of the AI team, Google hopes to outperform current AI models such as ChatGPT and establish itself as a dominant player in the market.
